Laurie Berkner on Noggin

I must say that Noggin (by Nickelodeon) is god's gift to parents in tv programming for children...ok, i guess it is Viacom's gift to parents.  Slow paced and (for the most part) tolerable shows without commercials for sugary foods or cheap toys.  Little Bear and Oswald are Sadie's favorites. Inbetween shows, throughout the day they play some fun music videos by Laurie Berkner who has played at birthday parties for the children of the stars like Madonna and Sting.  Upbeat music that even appeals to parents is paired with clever lyrics that teach kids everything from animal sounds to body parts.  You can view the videos on demand on Noggin's website.  Look for the channel on your cable or satellite service.

An Update on Alex's Lemonade Stand

As many of you know, I posted earlier in the Summer on a beautiful little girl that is local to us here in Philly, but known world wide for her courageous battle of cancer. Sadly, Alex passed a few months ago before reaching the goal she set of 1 million dollars for her fund. At the right is the link to the book her mother wrote that isn't a downer at all! How lucky we should all be to be this couragous! I implore everyone that sees this website to host their own "Alex's Lemonade Stand" once the ground isn't frozen anymore! It's a great charity for a brave little girl that did more in her few years than I have done in 35!

Mabels Labels

i LOVE Mabels Labels. I found them on Daily Candy Kids about a year ago, and was skeptical about their lasting power. You can get sets in two different color groups - primary colors and "princess" pastels. In addition ot your name, you also have the ability to chose from a wide variety

of cute icons to express your child's personality.Cute? Yes. But would they really stay on after repeated abuse in the dishwasher? Well, I can now give an enthusiastic testimonial that these things ROCK! I have labels on all her bottles and sippy cups, and her beach toys that she uses in the sandbox. The bottles have gone through hundreds of washes over the past year and while they have bubbled up a bit, they are no where near starting to peel off. Way to go Mabel, whoever you are.

Haven't tried the ones that go on clothes and shoes, but now that Sadie is going to be going to Gymboree Runners, we may have to give them a try.
